"I'm Not a Tech Guy" Is Not a Reason to Skip AI. Here's the Entire Setup, Day by Day.
What "done for you" actually means: the full five-day timeline, the short list of things you personally have to do, and the one step nobody warns you about.
When we ask owners what's stopped them from trying AI, it's almost never price and almost never skepticism about whether it works. It's this:
"I'm not a tech guy. I don't have time to learn another system."
Completely fair — because most software is sold that way. You buy a login, you get a tutorial playlist, and congratulations: implementing it is now your night job. Owners assume AI works the same, except harder.
So here's the entire setup, day by day, including the parts you personally have to do. Judge for yourself whether it requires a tech guy.
Day 1: A conversation, not a configuration
The whole first step is a strategy call — the kind of conversation you'd have training a really sharp new office hire. What do you charge for common jobs? What's your service area? When can crews run? What counts as an emergency, and who gets woken up for one? Which questions does your front desk answer forty times a week?
You already know all of this cold. Talking about your own business is the "work."
Days 2–3: We build while you run your company
This is where the technical part happens — to us, not to you. Your calendar gets connected so bookings land as real appointments. Your CRM gets synced so every conversation writes itself into the customer record. The agent gets loaded with your pricing FAQs, service area, booking rules, and escalation rules from Day 1's conversation.
Your involvement: answering the occasional "wait, do you guys service Castle Rock?" text.
Day 4: We try to break it before your customers can
The agent gets hammered with your real scenarios — the 2 AM no-heat call, the rambling voicemail-style question, the customer who asks three things at once, the one who needs a human. Testing continues until it handles your weird stuff, not generic demo stuff.
You're welcome to pile on. Most owners' favorite hour of the process is trying to stump their own agent. (You can preview the feeling right now on our live demo — it answers like it already works somewhere.)
Day 5: Live — and someone's still watching
Calls forward, the agent answers, appointments appear in your calendar. You get a simple dashboard showing every conversation — read them like text messages, no training required. After launch it's monitored and tuned as real calls come in, so the agent gets sharper in its first weeks instead of staler.
Your complete to-do list, honestly
One strategy call (about an hour).
Answer a few clarifying texts during the build.
Create an AI account key — the one genuinely technical-sounding step. It's about ten minutes of clicking on the AI provider's website to create an account, and connecting it is part of what gets handled for you during the build. If you can set up online banking, you're overqualified. We tell you this upfront because "done for you" shouldn't mean surprises later.
Try to stump your agent before launch (optional, weirdly fun).
That's the list. No software to learn, no flowcharts to design, no admin panel with 400 settings.
The question that actually matters
"Am I technical enough?" is the wrong filter — the setup asks nothing of you but knowledge of your own business. The right filter is the one from your P&L: what are missed calls costing you while this decision waits? Run your numbers on the free ROI calculator — for most owners, the monthly gap is many multiples of the total effort described above.
The office computer felt technical in 1995. The website felt technical in 2005. Online booking felt technical in 2015. The owners who moved first each time didn't have more tech skill — they just refused to let "I'm not a tech guy" price them out of an advantage.
Five days. One conversation, a few texts, ten minutes of account creation. That's the mountain.
